Edward Joseph Bakanowicz

Edward Joseph Bakanowicz , age 89, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. Edward was born August 22, 1925 in Detroit to the late Casimer and the late Bernice (nee: Krysinski) Bakanowicz.Following his graduation from high school, Mr. Bakanowicz enlisted in the United States Navy. He would serve his country honorably from June 7, 1943 until his discharge on March 7, 1946. Follwing his return from naval service, Edward would meet and wed the love of his life, Regina Smosarski. The two went on to celebrate almost 55 years of marriage. Together they would raise their two daughters, Nancy and Beverly.Mr. Bakanowicz worked as a supervisor for a Prototype and Engineering company. Edward enjoyed a nice, long retirement staying busy every step of the way. He was blessed with good health until the last 12 months. Ed was the ultimate neighbor, mowing several of his neighbor's lawns and snow blowing many of their driveways in the winter time. In his retirement, Edward would strap on a tool belt and undertake many remodeling jobs around his home. Bob Villa did not have anything on Edward.Edward was the loving husband of Regina Bakanowicz (nee Smosarki). Dear father of Nancy Bakanowicz and Beverly (Indrin) Chetty. Cherished grandfather of Julian. Also survived by his feline friend, Molly. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers. Visitation for Edward will be held Friday, August 14th from 3 - 9 pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. He will lie in state Saturday from 9:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren.Please share memories at Edward's memory book above
