Edward Francis DuBois, age 77 of Clinton Township, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He was born May 6, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington, son of the late Edward Alexander and the late Cleone Maxine (nee: Hurst) DuBois.
A truck driver by trade, Edward was one of the many “road warriors” that did his part in keeping our nation humming. Without them, we would be lost,…so we extend our posthumous gratitude to Edward for the countless hours he spent doing what he did best.
When at home, Edward wasn’t the kind of person given to remaining idle. He loved to tinker with things, especially if it involved an old radio or clock. Becoming a collector of both throughout the years, he found great enjoyment in maintaining and repairing these small appliances, and had acquired quite the collection. But it really didn’t matter what he was fidgeting with,…at the time, his affinity for tinkering made him feel like a master craftsman. Another facet of that tinkering gene he possessed was found in his work with cars. Known for being an astute mechanic, Edward often worked some unique magic when it came to his auto-body work. Watching him work on cars was like watching an artist in a gallery, only Edward’s easel was on four wheels.
For all who truly knew Edward, they’ll be able to attest to his love of mountains and the grandeur that accompanies them. And there were no better mountains than those located in the Big Sky State of Montana, in which his favorite mountain range was found amid the town of St. Ignatius. Nestled within the Flathead Indian Reservation, the mountains rose to the heavens sprinkled with their snow-capped beauty, offering a breathtaking vista that made you simply stand in awe of God’s handiwork,…and Edward knew that feeling well.
Edward was also a lover of trains. Just like those who are fascinated by planes and boats, for Edward it was the history and power of the locomotive that piqued his interests and tastes. Most all little boys are enthralled with trains as they’re growing up, but some boys, as they grow, take their interests to another level,…as did Edward.
Yet, perhaps, one of the sincerest aspects of Edward’s life was found in his faith and his love of God. Instilled with a strong and abiding faith, Edward was a joy to be around and was truly a testament to God’s goodness. Regarded as a simple man, Edward lived an unselfish life and was the kind of guy who was there if you needed him. Always eager to be a good steward, he was a man you could rely on and trust, and his deeds were as good as his word.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Edward leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and a storehouse of meaningful memories to draw upon with each reflection shared. His family meant the world to him, and now he goes on ahead to await that final reunion in the sky,…when he and all his loved ones are together again. Until then, may he rest in peace.
Edward was the beloved husband of Judy, and the late Betty. Dear father of Clancey, Candice, Rose, and the late Edward Jr. Brother of Mary. Loving grandfather of nine and great grandfather of five. Also survived by Judy’s two sons, and her seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Visitation for Edward will be held Sunday, September 6th from 12:00 pm until the time of his Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren, Michigan.
