

Edward J. Kowal, 92, of Center Line, died Saturday, April 28, at St. John Oakland Hospital, Madison Heights. Edward was born November 14, 1914 in Depew, NY. As a teenager Edward moved to Michigan. In 1941 he married his wife Wanda. A few years later he was proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. As a civilian Edward worked as a machinist, finally retiring from Progressive Welder and Machine Shop at the age of 67. He was a member of the U.A.W. and the Warren Seniors Club. Edward enjoyed playing pool, sports and traveling. He managed his shop baseball team. He loved northern Michigan; he and his family would travel there twice a year. Mr. Kowal absolutely treasured his 1989 Mercury. Mr. Kowal is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughter, Marcia (Gene) Zorin; grandson, David (Heidi) Zorin; and brother Stanley. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Josephine. Visitation for Edward will take place Monday, 5-9 pm and Tuesday 1-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12/ Mile). A Scripture Service will be held Tuesday evening 7:00pm. Mr. Kowal will lie in state at St. Clement Catholic Church, 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Michael Gawlowski. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. John Hospice. Please share memories at Mr. Kowal's guest book.
