

Edward J. Piszczek, 80, of Warren died Wednesday October 3, 2007 in Lapeer Michigan, surrounded by his family. He was born February 5th, 1927 in Hamtramck, Michigan. Edward served as a Fireman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, joining the Navy at age 17. Upon completion of his service time, Edward completed his education at Pershing High School. Edward started his work career as a roofer at the R.C. Mahon Company. He worked his way up to manager of the Shipping and Receiving Department. Edward married Virginia Zalewski in 1951. One of Edwards achievements was to personally build the house in Warren, that he and Virginia along with their family called home for 52 years. Edward was one of the founding members of the St. Sylvester Parish in Warren. He spent many hours on the original construction and fund-raising for the church. Edwards greatest joy in life was his family. He provided loving guidance to every family member and beamed with pride at every family members accomplishments. Edward was best known by family and friends as Jaja. Edward loved to cook, make sausage, fish, hunt and bowl. Edward is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Sandra Ann (Randall) Watts, and Edward M. (Karen) Piszczek; his grandchildren, Alison (Aaron) Cyrkiel, Andrew E. Watts, Matthew Piszczek, Ryan Piszczek, Angela Mortimore and Kayti Mortimore. Edward is survived by his sister Rita (Norbert) Gorajczyk and a brother Leonard (Helen) Piszczek. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters; Julia Roketa, Helen Ryzska, and Dolores Gorajczyk, and his brother Frank. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 7th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 Mile Road). Edward will lie in state, Monday, October 8th at St. Sylvester Catholic Church at 10:00 am with a 10:30 am Funeral Mass. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
