Emil Pauline Baker

Emil Pauline Baker, Age 83, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Clinton Aire Nursing Home in Clinton Township. She was born January 17, 1927 in Haysi, Virginia the daughter of the late King Solomon and the late Nancy (nee: Coleman) Blankenship. Along with being the loving homemaker that she was, Pauline also possessed a number of skills and talents which highlighted just how proficient she could be a mother. Her and her beloved husband married in September of 1943 when he swept her off her feet. They later moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1952 in the search of jobs in the automotive industry. Both had odds and ends jobs until ending up at Chrysler for several years. It was in 1957 that the family moved to Warren, Michigan and settled there for the remainder of Paulines life. She was a mother who loved her children and laid down the law when she needed too. Pauline loved dining out, country music, going to casinos, dancing and most of all traveling. She loved going to Florida and Dolly World, but most of all loved traveling back home to the south. She was the beloved wife of the late John D. Baker. Loving mother of Edward (Dee) Baker, Maryann Woodard, Kenneth (Nancy) Baker, Janet (Dan) Houston and the late Dorla June Baker. Devoted grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 19. Sister of Opal Jackson, Imal Eickler, Ollie Blankenship, and Ernest (Carol) Blankenship. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members. Pauline was predeceased by her parents King Solomon and Nancy (nee: Deel) Blankenship; her siblings Ethyl (Fred) Deel, Clinton Blankenship, Eula (Armis) Hill, and Lawrence Blankenship. Visitation for Pauline will be held on Friday 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd at Common (12 mile). Other visitation will be held on Sunday at the Grundy Funeral Home in Grundy, Virginia from 3-8pm. Funeral Service Monday 11am at the Grundy Funeral Home with burial immediately following the service. Please share memories at her guest book.
