Emily Patrishkoff, age 90 of Warren, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born in Detroit on May 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Veronica (nee: Michalski) Bartnik. In 1943, Emily met Steve, the man who stole her heart. After 3 years of wooing & courtship, her life was changed forever when she took that fateful walk down the aisle, and the two became one. Together, they shared a very loving and devoted life and kept each and every promise they spoke, right up until the Lord called her home...just 3 days before they would have shared their 64th wedding anniversary. Emily leaves her beloved, Steve, to cherish her memory. Emily enjoyed a full life that was blessed with many gifts from her Father in Heaven, but none-so-much as the love and passion she held for her husband, children and grandchildren. Nurturing her family was of the utmost importance to her, and the traditional values that guided her walk in life left a lasting impact on all the loved ones who have followed after. She led a clean and healthy life, and was a beacon to all who knew her of the reverence for God that molded her being. Emily was deeply spiritual and very devout in her faith. Always prayerful, she so enjoyed spending time with God praying the rosary and growing closer to Him. She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her parish pals, not only attending church but during the many prayer meetings that brought them closer as well. And as much as she enjoyed her faith, she was equally passionate when it came to the cherubs in her life. Even into her golden years, she loved playing and mixing it up with her grandchildren, even if that meant getting down on the floor. It didn't matter, she just loved to play and make memories with them. Memories were also shared of the cartwheels she was doing into her 70's. Devout, playful,...and yes, classy, too. Emily had great style sense. For a brief stint in her life, during the World War II years, Emily was employed at Dodge Main and Fisher Body where she worked as a Blueprint Checker. But the most rewarding work she ever knew was that of a Homemaker and Mom. She loved to bake, and two of the family's favorites were her raisin bread and the ever-delicious, lemon meringe pie. When she wasn't attending to her family, Emily enjoyed a number of hobbies and pasttimes. She could shop with the best of them. She was also quite the backyard horticulturist when it came to her roses. She had a special touch when it came to those beautiful blooms, and amazed many at how she could nurture an entire rose bush from a single stem of a bouquet. She was musically inclined, as well, and would often be found "tickling the ivories" or crooning a favorite tune. Exercizing her mind with a good game of scrabble or working puzzles was something that she enjoyed and kept her sharp. She was also an avid seamstress with a passion for sewing. But of all the pasttimes that Emily found herself enveloped in, perhaps her gift of crotcheting was the most prominent. For over 72 years, her hands worked incredible magic in the beautiful creations they would produce. She was truly the "Crotchet Queen." Lastly, Emily was a "friend of all friends." Being the social butterfly that she was, meeting people came easy for her. She loved to chat with anybody and simply enjoyed the human experience. But she was also blessed to share some incredibly long & loving friendships, like the one's she shared with fellow sisters, Helen Kulesza and Rose Kulesza since the age of 5 years old. Sharing love was one of Emily's most profound gifts, be it family or friend alike. The lives she touched were beyond measure, and now her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Emily was the beloved wife of Steve. She was the loving mother of Nancy (James) Thibault, John (Denise) Patrishkoff, Mary (David) Klonowski, and Carol (Chris) Snopek. Dearest grandmother of Michael (Susan) Thibault, Jeffrey (Karen) Thibault, and great-grandmother of Raquel, Brandon, Sydney, Lindsey, and Emily. Visitation for Emily will be on Tuesday, June 8 from 3-9pm, with a 6pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Wednesday from 10am until the time of Mass at 10:30am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 11200 Twelve Mile Road in Warren. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to the family, in granddaughter, Emily's name, for her on-going therapy for autism. Please share memories of Emily at her guest book.
