

Eric Francis (Van), 92, of Ypsilanti, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Eric was born October 26, 1915 in Canada the son of the late Augustus and the late Edith (nee: Blower) Francis. During World War II Eric served as a medic for the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He was a member of the Electrotypers Union Local #54. Eric was active in St. Matthew parish in Detroit with the Dad's Club and Boy Scouts, Dominic High School Dad Club, and Bishop Gallagher Dad Club. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, woodworking. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He was also very proud of his family. Eric is survived by his children, Mike (Josie), Kathleen (Michael) Peabody, Lawrence (Claudia Myszke); grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin, Ryan, Eric, Maureen, Shawn, and Daniel; great grandchildren, Julia and Vincent; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary. Visitation will be held Friday 3-9 pm with a 6 pm Rosary Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). He will lie in state Saturday 9:30 am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 am.
