Estelle Ross, age 93 of Macomb, and longtime resident of Warren, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Township surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 25, 1920 in Hamtramck, daughter of the late Peter and the late Mary (nee: Kaminski) Janusz. To quote an old phrase, Estelle was "quite the looker"…and in her earlier days, she managed to put that charm and poise to work as a model for the Chrysler Motors company. As her employment picture changed, Estelle found herself in the printing industry with a focus on the production of church newsletters. Both as a clerk and an instructor, she was an integral part of keeping many church bodies informed and up to date. When asked what was Estelle's prominent trait, the easy response came back, "strong-willed." Along with a verve for life, she also possessed a tenacious spirit that not only guided her, but provided the drive that always saw her through anything. Perhaps this was never more realized than in her near-miraculous battle with cancer. Now, when most people get diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, the good-bye's often come quite soon. For Estelle, her journey continued on another 20 years. With the help of an experimental procedure, she accepted the role of test patient for a new drug being researched for the fight against breast cancer. With that familiar tenacity and a will to live, Estelle's journey took on renewed meaning as a pioneer in the medical field. Because of her willingness to answer such an unselfish call, the road for many with breast cancer has been smoothed immensely. That's just the kind of woman she was,…and will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.Estelle possessed many joys in life, but none-so-precious as the times and moments spent as a Mom and Grandma. Family was the core of her soul, and the most important reason for being. She leaves behind many warm & wonderful memories to draw upon, and a host of lessons to learn from through her achievements in life. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Estelle was the beloved wife of the late Walter. Dearest mother of Shelly (Dale) Brothers, and loving grandmother of Heather, Brittany, and Jesse. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Please share memories of Estelle at her memory book.
