

Frank Joseph D'Angelo, age 90 of Clinton Township, formerly of Warren, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Clinton Township. Frank was born June 13, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York the son of the late Anthony D'Angelo and the late Madelyn (nee: Longo) D'Angelo. As a teenager, he won the Golden Gloves for amateur boxing. In 1937 he won the Detroit Industrial Recreation Association Boxing tournament as a middleweight. Frank joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. The Corps was responsible for the planting of thousands of acres of pine trees in Northern Michigan. Mr. DAngelo served in the Army as a medic during WWII, and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He attained the rank of Tec 4. Mr. DAngelo enlisted on February 9, 1942 at Ft. Custer, Michigan and was discharged on November 2, 1945 at Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. After his military service Mr. DAngelo worked for Bud Wheel Corporation, and then General Motors. Frank retired in 1981 from General Motors as a supervisor in building maintenance division. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Disabled American Veterans. Frank lived a very active life in 1984 he and his wife moved to Prudenville, Michigan, and built a home with the help of his children. Frank loved to bike around the lake where he and his wife lived for over 20yrs. He also loved to travel, read, and share stories of his life with his family. His love of boxing stayed with him all his life. Later in life he wanted to be closer to family and returned to Clinton Township where he resided for the last four years with his wife. Most important of all he never met a person he couldn't call friend. To know him was truly to love him. His family will cherish the blessing of having such a wonderful man in their lifes. Frank is the beloved husband of Susanna (nee: Schoenherr) DAngleo. Loving Father of Mark (Dorene), David (Darlene), Catherine (Daniel) Sweeney, and Susanne (Richard) Simoni. Dear brother of Michael (Fran) DAngelo, and Louise (Frank) Loria. Mr. DAngelo is also the cherished grandfather of Scott, Christopher, Robin, Kimberly, Andrea, Sara, Danny, Katie Rose, Michael, Jessica, Jaclyn, and great-grandfather of John, Isabel, Evelyn, Lyla, Dominic, Zachary, and Madelyn. Visitation for Mr. DAngelo will be Tuesday from 5-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-9 pm with a evening Rosary at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Mr. DAngelo will lie in State Thursday 9:00 am, until the time of the Funeral Mass 9:30 am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Road, in Clinton Township. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Ronald Essman. Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery. Please share memories at Mr. DAngelos guest book.
