George J. Jenkins, age 82, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Church of Christ Care Center in clinton Township. He was born on October 3, 1928 in Rector, Arkansas, the son of the late Elbert and the late Esther (nee: Hopper) Jenkins. By trade, George was a Tool & Die Grinder for the automotive industry. With over 41 years of dedicated service, he was employed by both Putnam Tool and Active Tool, until his retirement in 1995. When he wasn't working, and into his retirement years, George's favorite pasttimes included hunting and enjoying sports. Known as being quite frugal, he wasn't much for spending money on things. But where spending really mattered was in his time spent with family and friends. He was a devoted family man with simple tastes and values, and an adoring grandfather who lived for each and every moment he got to share in their company. They were the apple of his eye and he cherished them all immensely. George was the loving father of Jack (Denise), Karen (Gary) Laskowski, George "Ed" (Judy), Kathleen Walczak, Robert (Debra), and Gary J. Riley. Brother of Faye (James) Metz. Predeceased by son, Richard, and siblings, Dwight Jenkins and Ophie Stokes. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation for George will be on Wednesday, October 27th from 10:00am until the time of his funeral service at 1:00pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Officiating the service will be Pastor Roy Wolf. Interment will take place at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of George at his guest book.
