Granville Edward Braasch Jr., age 66, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born September 29, 1948 in Detroit, son of the late Granville Sr. and the late Sylvia (nee: Hoglan) Braasch. For over 42 years, Granville was employed with the Clintondale Community School District where he worked in their Maintenance Department. Possessing strong work ethics and a willingness to see a job to its fruition, he extended the utmost in dedicated & loyal service to the school system and its facilities. When he wasn't working hard on the job, Granville could often be found out back in his yard tending to his pride & joy,…his vegetable garden. With a green thumb and expectant heart, Granville tilled the soil and nurtured his vegetables with the expertise of a farmer,…and always enjoyed a great harvest for his efforts. When he was able to put all work aside, Granville would often tickle that outdoorsman's bone of his by taking himself to a favorite fishing hole, or heading to the woods for a hunting adventure. Whichever choice he made, there was no mystery that he was a true Michigander who loved getting back to nature and enjoying some of the Mitten's back country entertainment. And speaking of entertainment, there was only one channel on the television as far as Granville was concerned,…and that was the Food Network! If you caught him sitting in front of the TV, you could lay money on the fact that it was tuned to the food channel. Yet, without a doubt, his most precious and endearing entertainment came with each and every moment he got to share with family,…especially his grandchildren, with whom he was more affectionately known as "Papa." Granville was a wonderful and adoring father, and quite the doting Papa as well. For those he cared about and the relationships he nurtured, he leaves a legacy of love that will long be remembered with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Granville was the loving father of Jamie R. ( Fiance, Derek St. Andre) Braasch-Clay, Jonathane (Vanessa) Braasch, and Joshua Braasch. Beloved brother of Tom (Sue) Mathney, Viola (Rick) McDonald, and Louise (Roger) Domurat. Cherished grandfather of Brendan, Kaden, Riley, Ivan, and Trent. A Memorial Visitation for Granville will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 am until the time of his Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Granville at his memory book above.
