Helen Ikach

Helen Ikach, age 93, of Warren, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Helen was born in Gary, Indiana to George and Stella Kokotovich. She graduated as valedictorian from Tolleston High School. She then enrolled in Indiana University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in business marketing. After graduation she moved to Indianapolis, where she worked for several years. There she met and married Milan Ikach. They had two children, and moved to Michigan in 1962 for Milan’s job. Helen returned to work outside the home in the 1970s. She had a long and successful career at Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD), where she began working in 1974. At MISD she worked in several departments, including Consultant Services, Communications, and the Business Office. She retired in 1997 as an Account/Purchasing Compliance Officer.

Helen loved to travel with family and friends, and took many trips within and beyond the U.S. She was an avid reader and bridge player, and an excellent sewer and quilter. She was an active alumna member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and a long-time member of Red Hat and bridge clubs.

Helen was the beloved wife of Milan Ikach for 68 years, cherished mother of James Ikach and Lynne (Chris Coretsopoulos) Ikach, loving grandmother of Kate Coretsopoulos, and dear sister of George Kokotovich. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Stella, brothers Saul and William, and sisters Mildred and Mary.

A memorial visitation will be held Sat., Oct. 21, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd., Warren, MI. Please share a memory with the family in our online guestbook.
