

Henry Banas, age 91 of Warren, Michigan died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital Macomb Center in Warren. Henry was born May 31, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Martin Banas and the late Mary (nee:Margalski) Banas. Hank was a WWII Veteran who served in the U.S. Army 34th Infantry in Europe. After his return home he married the love of his life Marcelline Marcy. Together they began their life together and were married for 66 years. Hank worked for the Detroit Free Press as a pressman for 40 years. He was a proud member and Past Commander of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Warren Post 165. He also served as a member of the American Legion Warren Post 490. His family and friends will remember him as a dedicated man who was a loving and caring person to everyone who knew him. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marcelline (nee: Junga), and his loving children, Cheryl Viau, and Mark (Marianne) Banas. He is the dearest grandfather of Scott (Cathy) Viau, Dana (Matt) Worzella, Jason (Tennille) Viau, Anthony Banas, and Andrew Banas. He was also survived by 6 loving great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Banas will be Friday from 3-9 pm with a 6:00 pm Scripture Service followed by a PLAV/American Legion Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road). Mr. Banas will lie in state Saturday at 9:30 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 11200 12 Mile Road in Warren.
