J. Gerald Godin, age 73 of Warren, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his home. Gerald was born August 10, 1937 in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Hilarion and the late Murial (nee: Wilson) Godin. A carpenter by trade, Gerald was a true craftsman when it came to anything related to woodworking. It's where his talents shone the most and where he worked his own brand magic. Woodworking was his life, and he gave it his all,...right up until the day that his illness took its toll. At his core, Gerald was truly a Country & Western kind-a-guy. For his favorite taste in music, it was definitely country. When it came to his movie enjoyment, a good western would always fit the bill. But of all the things he treaured the most, his greatest pleasures were forever enveloped in the times he spent with family. And being a Canadian by birth, some of his most cherished family memories were those enjoyed while on their annual vacation to his birth city, New Brunswick. Traveling back to his homeland each year was something he always looked forward to and treasured with each new memory that was made. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Gerald leaves behind a legacy of love that will be remembered always and cherished forever. He is survived by his wife, Eileen (nee: Hurley) Godin; children, Michael (Julie) Godin, Jeff (Dee) Godin, Giselle Godin, and Vikki (Dan) Burns; stepsons, Roger and Scott Winkelman; grandchildren, Sam, Max, Megan, Gabrielle, Deegan, Tyler, Tara, and Cody; siblings, Alex (Bertha) Godin, Charles Godin, Rita (Claude) Blais, Cairine (Paul) Brideau, Theresa (Glen) Murphy, Irene (Lucien) Godin, and Mary (Luc) Beauchamp. Visitation for Mr. Godin will be held Sunday 3-9 pm with a 7:30 pm Rosary Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). He will lie in state Monday 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Officiating the Funeral Liturgy will be Bishop Walter A. Hurley. Please share memories at Gerald's guest book.
