Jack Joseph Alongi III, age 78 a longtime resident of Warren, died Sunday, June 05, 2011 at his home. Jack was born November 16, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Jack Joseph Alongi II and the late Ann (nee: LaFata) Alongi. Jack was raised in Detroit and enjoyed boating as a young man. Later in life it was work, work, and more work. Jack believed in hard work and instilled that with all his children. Jack worked for over 39 years with the Detroit Newspapers as a computer specialist within the mail room, until he succumbed to health problems which forced him into retirement. Jacks little bit of time away from work was completely centered around his family whether it was snowmobiling in the winter or traveling with his wife it was always about his family. He also had a soft spot for animals, but never wanted his children to have pets because he remembered how hard it was when he was young to lose a cherished pet. Mr. Alongi was the beloved husband of Jacqueline, and the dear father of Ann Marie Polomo, Jack IV, Karen Johnson, and Christine Alongi-Arnold. He is the brother of Al (Peggy) Alongi, and is also survived by seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 mile). Mr. Alongi will lie in state Wednesday 9am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30am.
