

Jacob E. Perica Jake, 85, passed away suddenly on January 26, 2008. He was born on September 4, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from Eastern High School in Detroit, Mr. Perica joined the Naval Air Force and was stationed in San Diego, CA. When he returned to Michigan he worked for the Washington National and State Farm insurance companies, and then decided to attend the Detroit College of Law. His 40+ years of law included Assistant Prosecutor in Macomb County, Assistant City Attorney for Warren, and his own private practice, which he still enjoyed on a daily basis, along with going to the Warren Community Center pool five nights a week, come rain or come shine. He was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Fraternal Order of Police, and in 1981 received U.S. Supreme Court certification in Washington, D.C.. After obtaining his private pilots license in the mid-60s, he enjoyed many years of flying, traveling the country with his prize-winning Brittany Spaniel show and field trial dogs. In recent years, his greatest pleasure was watching his granddaughter and her husband perform professionally throughout the country. He was a successful and well-respected attorney, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandpa, and a caring friend who truly loved life and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Wilma (nee: Webb); sons, Jack, Michael (Steve Stewart); daughter, Sandy (Steve) Rinke; granddaughter, Erin Rinke VanGemert (Michael VanGemert); nieces, Laura (Tom) Arnold, Lesley (Frank) Passarelli, Kellie Perica, Pat (Allan) Metzler, Janet Gray, Carolee Grunalt and Georgina Devereaux; and nephew, Tom (Leona) Bush. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Marie; sister, Helen (Bill) Cates, Zora; and his brother, Nicholas (Rosemary). Visitation will be Monday 5-9 pm and Tuesday 2-9 pm with a 7:00 pm rosary at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 Mile). In state Wednesday 9:00 am until time of Mass 9:30 am at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.
