Jacqueline M. Iezzi, age 81 of Eastpointe, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 8, 1931 in Detroit, daughter of the late Charles and the late Elizabeth (nee: Schemmphling) English. In reflecting upon Jackie's life, there's no question that she loved to keep busy and was dedicated to the work at hand. In the earlier years, her most compassionate efforts were those centered around the care and nurturing of her family and raising six beautiful children. Once they were out on their own, Jackie's efforts turned to that of the work world where she took a position with General Safety, a seat belt manufacturing company within the automotive industry. With over 10 years as an employee with the company, she experienced a great deal of pride and rewards through her tenure of dedication and loyalty on the job.Another aspect of work she was noted for was the magic she performed in the kitchen. Like most mothers of her era, she loved to cook,...but Jackie possessed a special flair for the culinary creations that adorned her table. Most notably would have to be the Italian fare that set her apart. From her infamous ravioli dinners to the dainty pizzelles for dessert, Jackie knew that the way to a person's heart was definitely by way of their tummy. The old adage states, "when you're eating you're happy,"...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and nobody knew this more than her. Jackie's cooking prowess made a wonderful impact, not only on her family, but on the countless recipients that she shared her magic with over the years. She loved cooking for others and it wasn't rare for her to surprise an unsuspecting loved one or friend with a meal fit for a King. Likewise, entertaining for Jackie just gave her another reason to whip up something special from her recipe repertoire. When she wasn't working, Jackie loved to give Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money at the casinos. From the glitz & glamor of Vegas to the local venues here at home, nothing spelled fun more than taming those One-Armed-Bandits or a rousing challenge at Lucky 7's. There was just something special and invigorating to her about all the lights, sounds and aura that accompanied a little gambling entertainment.Yet, for all the fun she could conjur up, nothing could come close to the joy and delight she derived from spending time with her grandchildren. They were truly her cherubs and the apple of her eye,...and the feelings were definitely mutual. Her grandchildren loved her immensely and found great joy in each moment they were blessed to share together. From the story telling to the traditions passed down, memories of Grandma will forever be precious. Jackie will also be remembered for her devout faith and reverence for God. A longtime parishoner at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church in Eastpointe, Jackie was extremely faithful in attending Mass regularly and praying the rosary daily. Always mindful of others, she possessed a ministry that was unique and genuine to the person God created her to be, and exercised her faith with humility. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, the most important word in her vocabulary was "family." They meant the world to her and she was always there when needed. Some of the most special memories for her were those woven around the fabric of Christmas. She so loved adding her own flair to the warmth and joy of the holiday, and it was truly felt by all. Yet no matter what day of the year it was, you could always count on her love and care. She truly had a servant's heart and leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished always. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Beloved wife of the late Daniel. Dear mother of Joseph (Brenda) Iezzi, Donna Schmidt, Cindy Cairns, Daniel Jr. (Jenny) Iezzi, Kathy Iezzi, and Shari Cheick.
