James began his journey at De La Salle High School, where he graduated in 1959, laying the foundation for a lifetime of academic and personal achievements. He continued his pursuit of knowledge at the University of Detroit Mercy, setting the stage for a successful career ahead. With a sharp mind and a keen eye for detail, James embarked on a fulfilling career with the City of Warren, where he served as a dedicated budget cost analyst. His commitment to excellence and his meticulous approach to his work left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional achievements, James found his greatest joy in the loving companionship of his wife, Mary Alyce, with whom he shared nearly six decades of laughter, love, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, travel, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. James had a passion for exploring the world and experiencing new cultures, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and doting on his beloved grandchildren. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and boundless love enriched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an enduring legacy of kindness and compassion.
Though James may no longer walk among us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered, forever loved.
James was the beloved husband of Mary Alyce. Loving father of Mary Sue (Sgt. Chris) Gray and Joanne (Tom) Champney. Adored grandfather of Elizabeth (Trey) Bailey, Joshua, and Camryn Champney.
