

James Joseph Maurer, age 91, a resident of Warren for over 48 years, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at St. John Oakland Macomb Hospital in Warren. James was born January 24, 1918 in Ubly, Michigan, the son of the late William Maurer and the late Margaret (nee: McMahon) Maurer. Following high school he served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II, serving as a wheelsman from 1941 to 1945. He and his late wife lived in Detroit before settling with their family in Warren. Mr. Maurer first worked for Camdale Tool and Die as a toolmaker before working and retiring from Revere Copper & Brass as a machine repairman. Following his retirement, Mr. Maurer and his wife enjoyed traveling they visited Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Mexico. As years passed, he spent his time tinkering around his home fixing anything broke or not. He was passionate about his wifes care and was her personal caregiver for over 11 years, often sacrificing his own health above hers. Mr. Maurer will be remembered as the beloved husband of the late Irene who died August 16th of 2009. He is the dear father of Gary (Marianne) Maurer, Roger (Kathy) Maurer, and Brian (Holly) Maurer. Loving Grandfather of Warren (Kathy), Gregory (Cindy), Rachel, Kurt, Amanda, and Jennifer. Great-grandfather of Warren Jr., Brenna, and Dylan. Visitation for Mr. Maurer will be on Friday from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie In State on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of Mass at 10am at St.Matthias Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Please share memories of James at his guest book.
