James Frederick Milch, age 59 of Warren, died Monday, December 7, 2020 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren, Michigan. He was born January 14, 1961 in Detroit, son of Sidney Henry Milch, and the late Geraldine Jean (nee: Rudniak) Milch.
With a career as a CAD designer / engineer, James’ expertise and responsibilities called upon the better portion of his brain power and intellect, therefore causing him to strive for that ever-anticipated goal,…the weekend off!
When those times came and he was able to enjoy a little “me time” in the day, you would have often found James immersed in the glory of his coveted ’93 Corvette, the car of his dreams. Whether taking it for a spin or simply admiring it where it sat, James’ ‘Vette was a thing of beauty and splendor, and he always felt like an 18 year old behind the wheel. Along with admiring his own car, James was quite the aficionado of many other classics as well and was a noticeable regular at many of the car shows that speckled the southeastern Michigan area. Being a local in the Motor Capital of the world, he just always felt he was doing his part by supporting the shows,…of course, while feeding his knowledge and appetite for espying the beauty of the countless automotive gems that frequented the many car shows.
James will also be remembered for being quite the athletic kind of guy,…especially when it came to the game of baseball. He garnered great enjoyment from watching the game being played out, but his passion for the great American sport was truly realized each time he donned his glove and headed onto the field to actually play the game. There wasn’t a position he couldn’t play, and was often valuable wherever he was at. He just loved the game of baseball.
Second only to baseball was James’ love for the game of golf. If it hadn’t have been for the loss of daylight, nor the hours of operation, you might have found James playing golf 24/7. His brother shared (in jest) how he used to struggle to get James off the course so as not to be late for dinner, but it occasionally ended up being one of those “best laid plans” sort of things. Yet, the game was a true passion of James’, and he followed that up by the fact of being quite adept and good at the game, too. Nothing says fun quite like sharing the links on a sunny day with a friend.
Many may recall that James was also a great cook and baker. He certainly knew his way around the kitchen and could whip up some culinary tidbits that would make your eyes roll back in your head. All he needed was an oven or stove and some preparation space, then just sit back and watch the magic unfold. Then if you were lucky enough, you got to taste the delicious treats he so painstakingly put together.
James was a huge music fan, especially when it came to the Metro Detroit music scene. He knew a multitude of the city’s performers and supported many of them as well. Quite often in the summer months, James used to love hanging out on the deck at Brownie’s On the Lake in St. Clair Shores. It is there he would often enjoy the sounds and musical highlights of musicians such as the George Brothers Band, his friend Brian of the Damn Band, and many others. Summer fun also brought James’ penchant for the water whenever he shared a day on the boat with friends. It’s some of the finest Michigan fun to be had, and James knew that feeling well.
Traveling on land was another of James’ passions, particularly when his car was pointed in the direction of Florida. Not so much a Snowbird, but more of an overall Florida Fan,…he loved heading south to spend time with friends. But now,…if it had anything to do with Bruce Springsteen, then James’ car would follow the Rock Icon all across the nation, and beyond. A HUGE fan of “The Boss”, James let nothing stand in the way of he and the BruceMeister.
A kindhearted soul who “never met a stranger,” James was definitely a people-person and loved helping his fellow man whenever he was afforded the opportunity. A true believer in the Golden Rule, James was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if he saw a need,…no questions asked. He was the kind of guy who was loved by everyone who knew him,…and Heaven just got itself another angel.
A loving son, brother and friend, James leaves a wonderful legacy of love for all to embrace who were blessed to know him. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls in his journey this side of Heaven,…may he now enjoy the blessings on the other side as he rests safely in the arms of God. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally,…especially by his little brother, Michael.
James was the beloved son of Sidney Milch, and the late Geraldine Szymczak, and the loving brother of Michael Milch.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
