Joan Alice Schonschek

Joan Alice Schonschek, age 82, of Sterling Heights and formerly of Grosse Isle Michigan, died January 27, 2013 at Autumn Woods Nursing Center in Warren, Michigan. Joan was born on December 12, 1930 in Taylor Michigan the daughter of the late Albert Montie and the late Clara (nee: Courtney) Montie. Joan was raised in Taylor and later resided for the majority of her life on Grosse Isle.Joan was a wonderful "stay at home" mom while raising her children. She had a passion for attending and watching the Detroit Tigers play, and also was an avid reader. She had a talent for crocheting while at home and in her younger years enjoyed bowling. After her husband died Joan and her sister would take every opportunity to travel. Mrs. Schonschek was the beloved wife of the late Orville Schonschek, and the loving mother of Debbie Fletcher, George (Michelle) Schonschek, and the late Karen O'Rourke. She was also the devoted grandmother of Nicole (Michael) King, Erika Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, and great grandmother of Ethan. Further surviving Joan are her beloved siblings John Montie and Betty Vargo. Mrs. Schonschek was predeceased by 2 sisters. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home.
