

John Fiantaco, age 92 of Warren, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born on October 8, 1921 in Du Quoin, Illinois, son of the late Ignazio and the late Catina (nee: Macaluso) Fiantaco.With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to John for his service to our country during World War II. As a soldier in the U.S. Army, John wore the uniform proudly, answered the call to duty with bravery and patriotism, and did his part in helping to preserve the cause of freedom around the world while defending ours valiantly. Those who knew John knew that he never had an unkind word to say about anyone, had a very kind disposition, and loved to help people. John had a very funny, sarcastic personality.John may most be remembered for his appearance and work ethic. John was extremely meticulous! He was very particular about his appearance and only wore wing tipped shoes. John was so neat that his apartment was voted the neatest bachelor's apartment in the building. He knew where everything was and nothing was ever out of place. John worked for 45 years without ever taking a single vacation! John took great pride in his appearance and working hard to provide for his family. John was the beloved father of Marleen Fiantaco (Dean Scanlin), Deanna (Rob) Morgan, and Daniel (Barbara Ann) Fiantaco. Loving grandfather of Charles, Anthony, Damon, and great-grandfather of Corey, Jordyn, Nicki, Alyssa, and Bryce. Dear brother of Angie Gikas and Jenny Brandt.A Memorial Visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, December 17th from 3-9pm, with an evening Memorial Service at 7pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of John at his memory book.
