

Joseph Chmielewski, age 80 a longtime resident of Warren, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Joseph was born November 27, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Stanley Chmielewski and the late Mary (nee: Potemski) Chmielewski. He graduated the class of 1947 from Pershing High School in Detroit, and then served in the Army during Korean War having attained the rank of Corporal. Joseph was inducted on February 16, 1951 discharged honorably on January 31, 1953. After his military service he returned to work at Ford Motor Company and retired after more than 30 years as a supervisor. When Joseph was not working he enjoyed studying his genealogy, photography, and attending all of his grandchildrens sporting events. Also Joseph was a member of the Cardinal Mercier Knights of Columbus Council 2723 and the Cardinal Mercier Assembly 0515 where he acted as the past Navigator, Comptroller, and Commander of the Color Corps. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Florence. He is the dear father of Pam (Don) Muglia, and Sandy (Ed) Johnson. Loving Dziadzia of Michael, Christina, Matthew, Kate, and Tyler. Brother of Eleanor (Ted) Kruczynski, and the late Edward Chmielewski. Special Uncle of Andrew Grzelak, and brother in-law of Terry (John) Whitehead. Visitation Thursday 5-9 pm and Friday 3-9 pm with a Rosary Service 7pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Mr. Chmielewski will lie in state Saturday 9 am at St. Marks Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Please share memories of Joseph at his guest book.
