

Joseph Lawrence Hauswirth, age 85 of Sterling Heights, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was born January 13, 1929 in Detroit, son of the late Joseph Jacob and the late Rose (nee: Frydrych) Hauswirth.With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Joseph for his service to our country during the Korean War. Having attained the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class, he was a proud sailor in our great United States Navy from October of 1948 thru September of 1952 and served aboard the USS Yellowstone in the European Theater of Operations. For the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm's way on our behalf, we extend our posthumous gratitude for the call to duty he answered with bravery and patriotism in keeping us strong and free.Joseph was the beloved husband of Ruth (nee: Kightlinger). Dearest father of Lora (Kevin Van Gilder) Hauswirth, Mark (Mary L.) Hauswirth, and Michael (Mary K.) Hauswirth. Loving grandfather of Heather, Victoria, Joseph, and Hailey. Brother of Richard Hauswirth, Marilyn (Howard) Goodin, Allen and the late Bob Hauswirth. Visitation for Joseph will take place on Thursday from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. There will be a Rosary Thursday at 7:00 pm. He will lie in state on 10:30 am from 11:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 E. 14 Mile Road, Sterling Heights. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
