Joseph Henry Myers, Jr., age 64 of Sterling Heights, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. He was born June 20, 1955 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, son of the late Joseph Henry, Sr. and the late Dorothy Alice (nee: Eliason) Myers.
Employed within the moving industry, Joseph had worked hard to climb that ladder of success which culminated in his attaining the position of Operations Manager. Of course, that meant he was now working doubly hard as he strove towards those coveted days off to relax and refresh. For Joseph, one of his favorite sources of relaxation was found in the sport of fishing. It was the perfect way to unwind and focus on what really mattered in and around his life. Nothing says relaxing like the quiet pleasures of fishing,…right up until that bobber takes a dive, then it’s Game On! Speaking of game on, when Joseph was looking to unwind with a bit of a different twist, that often meant a trip to the casino and giving Ol’ Lady Luck a run for her money. He loved the whole game of chance aspect that embodied the common pastime favorite,…and hitting the jackpot could tend to be quite refreshing as well.
At times, unwinding would often entail getting away which is something he loved to do in his “home away from home” on wheels, the family motor home. Joseph amassed countless hours of road time as he toured the highways and byways venturing from one campground to another sharing the joys and pleasures with many of his fellow road warriors.
Joseph was fascinated by motors and engines, and the many different types of vehicles that used them as their power plants. If it was motorized, then it commanded Joseph’s attention. He was especially enthralled by airplanes,…and that 2-wheeled chariot, his Honda Gold Wing. A motorcycle fit for a king, the seat on that bad boy is like sitting on a throne. Designed more for comfort than speed, Joseph was not merely a proud owner of his bike, but an avid & ardent member of the “Gold Wing Group” comprised of fellow owners and riders of these impressive machines. And not merely a member, but a past leader of the group as well.
But of course, Joseph’s greatest passion was wrapped in something much more precious,…his loving family and friends. Spending time in their company, especially his cherished grandchildren, made for some of the most wonderful and lasting memories of his life. His family meant the world to him and he held them in the highest regard. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls as he journeyed his path in life and left an impact wherever he went. Though he leaves this coil far too soon, it certainly is not without leaving the best parts of himself to be embraced with each reflection shared. He will be missed beyond measure and loved far beyond expression.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Mary. Dearest father of Joseph (Kelly) Myers and Bradley (Diane) Myers. Loving grandfather of Ryan, Natalie, Claire, and Connor Myers. Cherished brother of Barbara, Dennis, and James Myers.
Visitation for Joseph will be held Saturday, March 7th from 5-9 pm, with a 7:30 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.
Memorial donations are welcomed to the American Diabetes Association, 30200 Telegraph Road, Suite 105, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025.
