Joseph James Sciamanna, age 75, died on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.He was born February 29, 1940 in Detroit, son of the late Nunzio Sciamanna and the late Leta (nee: Bontempo) Sciamanna. On April 30, 1960, Mr. Sciamanna's life took on special meaning when he promised himself in marriage to his bride, Edith. Last year, the two shared their 54th anniversary together, a true testimony of the love they enjoyed as husband and wife. With a lifetime career as a Machinist, Mr. Sciamanna's work experience spanned many different venues where his talents and expertise were highly sought. But it was with Braun Engineering that he spent the lions share of his career, and from where he retired after many years of dedicated service. When he wasn't working, like many men, some of his favorite pastimes were enveloped by sports…from enjoying a beautiful day playing golf, to a rainy day playing hockey in the basement with his grandkids. Joseph was truly a people-person who found great delight in sharing his sporting enjoyment in the company of family and friends. Yet, perhaps, his favorite of all was baseball, a game which held special memories for him as well. Joseph was a coach for his grandson's baseball team,...so not only was he able to give them pointers, he was able to attend every game. And though his life was enveloped by the wonderful memory of friends, his greatest blessings in life were definitely those spent with family,…especially the precious moments with his grandchildren. Just resting in their presence brought him some of the most treasured moments in life. He was known by many and touched countless lives along life's way. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished, and remembered, by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Go rest high, dear Joseph,…and know that you are loved, now and always! He was the beloved husband of Edith. Loving father of Carmella (Terry) O'Neill, Joseph (Jackie) Sciamanna, Leta (Steven) Flake, and Rochelle (Jay) Ovenshire. Devoted grandfather of Kory, Joe, Sean, Jasmine, Brendan, Skyler, Ava, Adam, Alex, and Edie. Brother of Marie (Don) Bessler, Rita (Dave) Ryall, and the late Betty Slavensky. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Joseph will be held Saturday, March 14th at 1pm until the time of his Funeral Service at 4pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Please share memories at his guest book.
