

Joseph Lawrence Wiegand, 81 of Warren, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born March 04, 1927 in Center Line, Michigan the son of the late Joseph Wiegand and the late Clara (nee: Kott) Wiegand. He is survived by his wife 62 years Betty Joyce, and his dear children, Joseph L. Wiegand Jr., Jeffrey L. Wiegand, and Bethann Wanlass. Mr. Wiegand was also the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Wiegand, Erin Agee; Jeffrey Jr. and Joshua Wiegand; Chelsea, Kori, Amber, and Brian Wanlass. He is also survived by many dear family members and friends. Joseph Wiegand was raised in Center Line, and attended St. Clement School and eventually graduated from Center Line High School. Joseph met his future wife Betty at the old Bush School in the 10th grade. After high school Joseph attended University of Illinois where he studied business and accounting. Joseph chose to serve his country and served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Sergeant. He served with the ASTP ( Army Specialized Training Program), and with the Field Artillery. Mr. Wiegand returned from the War and married his high school sweetheart in 1947. He went to work for Equipment Manufacturing where he would continue to work and retire as a comptroller after 42 years. When Joseph was not working his family and grandchildren were paramount to him. He was a man of little words who chose to teach by doing. His grandchildren learned from there grandfather because he actively took and did activities with them. He will forever be known as the waterskiing grandpa, and their biggest Hero. Joseph also was an avid golfer, and an accomplished bowler. He golfed on two leagues and bowled on two leagues. He will be remembered as the oldest member of the Pampa Bowling Lanes Thursday night league. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny. Private interment will be held at St. Clement Cemetery in Center Line. Share memories at Mr. Wiegand's guest book.
