Judith Ann Maier, age 76 of Center Line, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren, Michigan. She was born November 16, 1942 in Mount Clemens, daughter of the late Floyd and the late Mable (nee: Gooley) Peltier.
Along with being the heart of her family, Judith was also the “life” of her family as she always sought to infuse her own brand of humor and lightheartedness into their lives. She loved making people laugh, and certainly enjoyed a good chuckle herself on occasion. Laughter equals happiness, and a happy family was Judith’s greatest goal. Caring for her loved ones was always uppermost in her daily routine, and Judith was definitely the consummate homemaker to her husband and six children.
When the chores were done and her tasks were met, a little quiet time for Judith would have found her with needle & thread in hand creating another of her wonderful works with embroidery. With talented hands and years of experience, Judith’s artistic eye and skillful patience went far towards producing some incredible pieces over the years,…many of which adorn her loved ones homes today.
As for having a little fun, Judith found great delight in joining with family or friends in playing a game of cards. Her favorite game was “500,”…but she was never averse to a rousing game of poker either. Of all the sources of fun that can be had, nothing much beats the gathering of “card sharks” around the table, enjoying a tasty beverage while the cards are being slung amidst the friendly competition and conversation being enjoyed. The “real fun” was not so much in the winning as much as it was in the table chatter, the laughter, and the memories being made,…and that is why Judith coveted each chance to whip out those cards and go to town! Much like the enthusiasm and excitement garnered from playing cards, Judith was often found engaging in another of her favorite games,…Bingo. A bit more on the larger scale than that of a card table at home, there was a special source of entertainment that accompanied the gathering of friends and neighbors in a hall, each immersed with anticipation and hope of hearing that right number called to summon the iconic scream,…BINGO! Judith ate it up with eager expectancy,…and at times, immense elation.
Judith will also be remembered for her strong and abiding faith, and her devout membership with the Church of God. A wonderful community Baptist church, it is where she found strength in her Lord, support through the Family of God, and sweet fellowship with the many friends she made there over the years. Judith’s faith was her “comforting blanket” when times were good,…and her “armor” when the storms of life blew. Through it all, she had learned to trust in God and enjoyed the relationship they shared. And being the good Baptist she was, that meant keeping her hair coifed and styled which led her to the salon on a regular basis. As any good church-goin’ woman will attest, a “Stylin’ Do” is the cherry on the sundae to the outfit-du-jour.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Judith leaves this earthly coil to take her place in Heaven, but not without imparting the best parts of herself in the hearts and souls of family and friends alike. Her unique smile, her robust laughter, and that way she had of telling great stories will all be missed, but reflected upon with a hearty chuckle and a remembrance that will forever keep her close. She goes on ahead to enjoy her place amongst the saints as she awaits that blessed reunion with her family & friends as they join her…one-by-one. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Judith was the beloved wife of the late Robert William Maier, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on June 18, 2016. She was the dear mother of Robert Maier, Ronald (Julie) Maier, Richard Maier, Lori (Michael) Pesavento, Chris Maier, and Christine (David) Dutkiewicz. Judith was the loving grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of two.
Visitation for Judith will be held Wednesday, July 31st from 3-9 pm at the D.S Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.
Her Committal Service & Burial will take place on Thursday, 9:00 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery, located at 4200 Belford Road in Holly, Michigan.
