Julia Sokolowski, age 87 of Warren, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born on June 16, 1924 in Rome, Italy, the daughter of the late Pasquale and the late Rosa (nee: Veneziani) Giancaspro. In the mid 1950's, Julia's husband ventured to the United States seeking to pave the way towards a new beginning for his family. In 1956, once Mr. Sokolowski got everything in order, he sent for his family and that is when Julia's life took on a fresh, new start. The family chose Warren as their new home, and that's where Julia resided for most of her days in America.Julia's first & foremost priority was family. With the care of a loving mother and grandmother, she took much joy in tending to their needs and providing all the creature comforts of home. Though she loved them all deeply, there was a soft spot in her heart for her two great-grandchildren. She was so proud of their status as teenagers and doted on them immensely. When she found some time to herself, Julia's pastimes were enjoyed by putting her hands to work with her own brand of creativity. Whether it was in the art of knitting, or dabbling in painting with pastels, she found great enjoyment through her expression in both. Another of the traits she will be remembered for is how she loved to cook. Like most Italian mother's, she knew her way around the kitchen and was especially adept when it came to her homemade pasta dishes,'yet another example of her handmade skills.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into nurturing the relationships of the many loved ones in her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live in their hearts for eternity and will forever be a reminder of the blessings she bestowed. She will be missed immensely. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph. Dear mother of Elizabeth. Loving grandmother of Amber (Brian Rea) Cannella, Melodie Allegrina, and great-grandmother of Russell and Cara.Visitation for Julia will be held on Wednesday, April 4th from 5:00pm ' 9:00pm at the D.S.
