Beloved mother of Jessica (Joseph) Jansen, and Sarah (Jason) Thompson. Loving grandmother “Nana” of Matthew, Olivia, David, Julia, Jordan, Emma, Caleb, Michael, and Christian. Preceded in death by her beloved daughter Rebekah Hurley, granddaughter Deena Jansen, former spouse and dear friend William Barr. Also survived by loving step daughter Connie Laramboise, dearest cousin Lori Winey and countless other close family and friends.

A longtime and faithful member of Grace Christian Church, Kathy’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and was quick to share the gospel with others. Her passion for her faith shone through in everything she did. She will be remembered for her warmth, her faith, her compassion, and the way she made everyone feel like family.

Children were at the very center of Kathy’s heart. Caring for them wasn’t just what she did—it was who she was. She found her greatest joy in loving and nurturing children. Kathy especially adored being a grandmother and took great pride in spoiling her ten grandchildren as much as she could.

Kathy was known for her vibrant spirit and loving personality. A social butterfly, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and learn their life story within minutes. She never met a stranger and often considered people she had just met to be dear friends. Kathy shared a deep and enduring friendship with Dana Chuchran. They raised their families side-by-side, and enjoyed countless lunches, coffee dates, and the occasional adventure. Kathy always stayed busy, often shopping at Macy's and browsing craft shows to find unique gifts or items to beautify her home. Kathy also never passed up a good Mexican meal or a long drive in the car.

Kathy’s legacy lives on through the love she poured into her children, grandchildren, friends, and everyone blessed to know her.

A memorial visitation for Kathy will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, from 12pm until the time of her memorial service at 1pm at Grace Christian Church, 33801 Van Dyke Ave., Sterling Heights, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Christian Church or Warren Woods Christian Schools in honor of her love for children and commitment to faith-based education.
