

Lawrence Andrew Doyle, “Larry”, age 79, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Larry was born November 16, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Lawrence Edward Doyle and the late Ann (nee: Kuk) Doyle.
Larry was raised on Detroit’s southwest side where he attended Holy Redeemer Catholic grade school, and graduated from the high school’s class of 1959. While in high school Larry played football and enjoyed all sports.
Following high school, Larry served in the United State Coast Guard reserves and enrolled at the University of Detroit. Larry graduated with his bachelor’s degree from U of D in 1965, and went on to join the workforce where he secured employment within General Motors.
Lawrence was employed for over 30 years at General Motors where he worked within many different facets of the company before ultimately retiring as a supervisor in the purchasing department. Lawrence retired in 1998 and spent the remainder of his retirement focused on his family, his garden, and working on his golf game. Larry even learned to cook after his sons were grown and out of the house.
Larry was a devout and consistent Catholic. He and his family attended St. Anne Church in Warren, St. Blasé in Sterling Heights, and lastly St. Rene Goupil in Sterling Heights. Larry's passions included his family, tending to his garden, and golfing with his buddies. Larry formed many different golf groups over the years, and always played the course with the best senior discount. He and his wife enjoyed their trips to Europe, China, Italy, and Spain. However, Larry’s favorite adventure was visiting Ireland where he connected with his Irish heritage. Additional cherished memories were enjoyed on trips with his entire family, including the grandchildren.
Larry was the beloved husband of Lorraine, and the dear father of Eric (Kim) Doyle, and Kevin (Kara) Doyle. He was the loving grandfather of Jenna, Jordan, Patrick, and Leah. Larry is further survived by his brother Dennis (Terry) Doyle, and many dear family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Regina (Harry) Burman.
A Memorial Mass for Larry will be held at St. Rene Goupil Catholic Church in Sterling Heights at a later date.
