

Lena Stoyka, 87, of Southlake, Texas, formerly of Warren, Michigan, died Saturday, January 17th, 2004 at home after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born May 9, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Detroit and Warren before moving in 1998 to Texas to be closer to her family. Prior to moving, she was a proud member of the Warren Polka Boosters. Mrs. Stoyka was a longtime employee of Chrysler Corporation, but will be remembered mostly as a loving, generous woman who continually gave of herself in caring for those she loved. Her inner beauty was matched by her outward appearance, and she reveled in the talents and accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The last years of her life were spent caring for her husband of 68 years, Charles Chuck Stoyka, who predeceased her by one year, and also enjoying the sports and other activities of her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Marge Cook of Southlake, Texas; son Charles (Pam) Stoyka of Florida; brother John Shapowal, sisters Zena Stevens and Delores Murphy; grandchildren, Michael (Sally) Cook of Virginia, Julie (Steve) Montague of Southlake, Lisa Hassien of Southlake, Linda (Rob) Sepanek of Highland Village, TX; and 12 beloved great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by sister Victoria Yellich. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren. Officiating the funeral will be Rev. Lev Kopistiansky.
