

Lorne William Roedding, age 78, of Eastpointe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, just one day before his 79th birthday. Born on December 22, 1946, he was the youngest of three children born to Jack Burghardt Roedding and Ivy Claudia (Hanlon) Roedding. Lorne was known for his kind heart, selfless nature, and unwavering honesty. A faithful and devoted man, he deeply cared for those around him and lived his life with integrity and compassion. He was very proud of his heritage, embracing his French Canadian, German, and Irish roots. So proud of his French-Canadian background, he visited Niagara Falls annually and cherished family trips he took every year, creating lasting memories with loved ones.
Lorne is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lena “Nina” Roedding; his four children, Michael Roedding, Cheryl Hayes, Lorne Roedding Jr., and AnnMarie Verdick (Phillip Verdick); five grandchildren, Olivia Roedding, Alexia Hayes, Darrian Clark (Brandon Clark), Nick Roedding, and Koner Roedding; and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Stella Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ivy Roedding; his sisters, Judith Elwert and Jackie Nixon; and his two cherished grandsons, Chet Matthew Hayes Jr. (Chetty) and Phillip James Verdick (PJ).
A proud United States Marine and Vietnam War Veteran, Lorne served his country with courage and honor. After being wounded during his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged. He carried the strength, resilience, and brotherhood of the Marines with him throughout his life, and his dedication to his fellow servicemen left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
On that Sunday morning, with family gathered and love filling his home, a train whistle echoed in the distance. We knew then that Papa had caught the train to Heaven, reunited with his loved ones, and finally at peace.
Whether you knew Lorne for a lifetime or only a brief moment, he left a heartfelt and lasting impression. Known for his sarcasm, gentle spirit, and unwavering integrity, he will be lovingly emembered for his strength, his deep devotion to family, and the quiet honor with which he lived his life. His legacy of service, love, faith, and perseverance lives on through the generations he leaves behind.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, from 12:00pm until time of Memorial Service at 4:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, located at 32000 Schoenherr Rd in Warren.
