

Louis B. Kovach, 80, of Sterling Heights, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Medilodge of Sterling Heights. Louis was born December 23, 1925 in Detroit to Michael and Elizabeth Kovach. During WWII he joined the Marines. He was wounded in battle in 1945 on Iwo Jima Island. For his wounds and service he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was very proud of his time spent serving his country. Louis retired from GM in 1989, where he had worked as a lathe operator. One of his favorite hobbies was golfing. In his senior years he developed Parkinson's disease and joined a Parkinson's support group where they learned about the disease and had group exercise sessions. Louis is survived by his wife Josephine "Jo"; children Nancy (Philip) Gilbert and Martin (Lisa)Kovach; step-children Gloria (Jack)Florin, Peggy Hegwood, Judy (Scott) Jackson and Mary Jardine; brother Anthony (Tillie) Kovach; grandchildren Christopher Gilbert, Scott Gilbert and Daniel Kovach; step-grandchildren Scott, Amy, Jay, Karry, Jessica, Jason, Kelly, Michael and Nicole; and 4 step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Kovach. Visitation for Louis will be held Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common ( 12 1/2 Mile). A funeral service will take place Monday, January 9, 2006, 11:00 am also at the funeral home. Fr. Gary Smetanka will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Roseville. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation.
