Lyda West

Lyda Winell West, born near Sparta, Tennessee on November 17, 1925, passed peacefully on September 20, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Dallas. Dear sister to Jack and Edna. Loving mother of Dallas (Cherie) and Linda (Dan) McLatcher. Proud grandmother of Jennifer, Kellie, and Jackie. Great-grandmother of Syndie, James, Alexis, McKenna, Lia, Drew, and Brady.

Lyda spent most of her days in Michigan where she worked at K-Mart and was active in the Order of Eastern Star where she rose to be the Worthy Matron of her chapter. After their retirement, Lyda and Dallas moved from Michigan to Florida and then to Tennessee where they rekindled friendships and enjoyed time with family. After Dallas’ passing, Lyda came back to Michigan where she found great joy being close to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lyda was a creative crocheter and spent many hours with her needle and yarn. She also was a fierce Rummy Kube competitor and a loyal Detroit Tiger fan.

Lyda lived a long and fulfilled life and will be missed.

A visitation for Lyda will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, MI 48088. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 PM. An instate will occur Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of the Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
