Mario Milloz, age 86 of Warren, died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in the comfort of his residence. He was born April 26, 1934 in Italy, son of the late Alessandro and the late Fortuna (nee: Cardinali) Milloz.
Born and raised in Italy, the timeframe was the late 60’s and Mario was in his mid-30’s when he decided to start a new chapter in life by emigrating to America, the land of opportunities galore. He had heard the stories of the possibilities that loomed, so he packed up his bags and headed west. Like many before him, Mario’s travels eventually led him to the Detroit area where he chose to make his home and settle down. Part of that settling down would ultimately include the love of a beautiful lady by the name of Mary (nee: Tomasi), the woman with whom he happily shared the vows of marriage to become husband & wife, a bond they lovingly enjoyed until passing.
For his career path, Mario decided to put his skills and talents as a painter to work and helped thousands of families, over the years, to update and beautify their homes. With a can of paint, a lot of masking tape, and a set of brushes, Mario was well-equipped to bring about change and turn the mundane into something magical,…all through the simple act of giving each home a facelift. He may have been adorning residential walls, but watching Mario do his thing was like watching Picasso in action. Not merely naturally talented, Mario was also a bit of an entrepreneur as his painting jobs were all part of his own business. Why work for the man when you can be the man, right? And Mario was truly “The Man.”
When asking about what Mario’s passions were, the response came back, resoundingly, with one word,…Animals. Possessing the wisdom of Mort Neff, the cunning of Steve Irwin, and the heart of Dr. Doolitlle, Mario shared a special relationship with his four-legged friends. They may have not been exotic, but more common to America,…but there was no question that he truly nurtured the bond he shared with the birds, cats and dogs that surrounded his life. He loved feeding the birds, coddling the cats, and gave so much of himself into caring for “man’s best friend,”…the various dogs that were an important part of his life. Known affectionately as a dog rescuer, that was the statement of the man and definitive of the core within. And yes, he loved feeding them as well. If you were a neighborhood dog, then you knew that Mario kept his own personal stash of doggie treats in the garage, ready for any visitor’s who cared for a little nosh. Mario may not have been crowned as such, but everybody knew (especially the dogs)…he was the “Biscuit Man.”
Always seeking a bit of balance in life, Mario often sought the peace and calm that he garnered from his practice of Meditative Drumming. Having been introduced to this unique and freeing sense of focus and release, it became a vital aspect of what kept Mario centered and truly in tune with life. From a different perspective, yet equally important in Mario’s life, came his strong and abiding faith in God, a guiding light that shone the way through many of life’s challenges and ushered in a peace and serenity that embodied his longstanding Catholic upbringing.
Between his meditations, his faith, and the natural abilities he possessed to express his own brand of love and care, Mario touched countless hearts and souls with his kindness and generosity, and his heart was open to everybody. He was a gentle man who emanated friendliness wherever he went,…and he simply loved people. And right there towards the top of the list was his precious family, the loved ones that brought out the best of him and those who will cherish each reflection shared of the moments they spent together throughout his journey.
A loving husband, brother, uncle and friend, family events will never be the same. Mario leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love for all to embrace, a legacy that reflects the meditative, faith-filled, and dynamic man he was to all who were blessed to know him. He will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure. Go Rest High, Dear One.
Mario was the beloved husband of the late Mary. Dearest brother of Maria Milloz and Magda (Giancarlo) Crudo. Loving uncle of Livia, Grazia, Ettore, Alex. Also survived by many great nieces, nephews,...and his longtime friend & caretaker, Geri Pleva.
