Mary E. Benefield

Mary E. Benefield, age 83, of Sterling Heights died Monday, May 25, 2009 at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital-Macomb Center in Warren. She was born June 18, 1925 in Browntown, Alabama the daughter of the late Richard and the late Jamie (nee: Cox) Wilks. Mary was a longtime member of the Tabernacle Church of God. Mary and her husband, Verlon were also members of the Sunshine Travel Club. They traveled all around the United States. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Verlon; children, Harold (Janet) Benefield and James V. (Alice) Benefield; grandchildren, Christine (Tim) Gunter, Steven (Karen) Benefield, Scott Benefield, Leslie (Jim) Twigg, Julie Benefield, and Angela (Andrew) Houghton; great grandchildren, Julia, Rachel, Jeffrey, Faith, Fallon, James Taylor "JT", and Avery Lynn; siblings, James "Richard" Wilks, Cecil (Rubyjo) Wilks, Ed Wilks, Marvin (Ozeal) Wilks, Austin (Margaret) Wilks, and Lilly McKenzie. Half sister of Jeanette Coons and Pearl Adkins. She is predeceased by her sister, Martha Wilkerson. Visitation for Mrs. Benefield will be held Thursday 5-9 pm and Friday 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). A Funeral Service will be Saturday 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township. Please share memories at Mary's guestbook.
