

Mary Galasso, age 87 of Sterling Heights and formerly of Detroit, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Windemere Park Senior Community in Warren. Mary was born March 25, 1922 in Chieti, Italy the daughter of the late Carmine Bellini and the late Filomena (nee: DiFabio) Bellini. Mary first arrived in America in 1927, at a young age of 5, remembering the boat that brought her to Ellis Island. She began attending Detroit Public Schools and was a student of the old Eastern High School. Mary met her husband, Luigi, at Bundy Tubing and they married in 1941. Mary was a housewife until the mid 1970's. She was then employed at Vitamin Village and worked her way up to fill the position of store manager. Mary definitely practiced what she preached as an employee of Vitamin Village. She was a health food aficionado and any questions you may have had about vitamins, Mary could answer them all. She was known to only eat organic foods. If it wasn't natural, Mary wanted no part of it. All around healthly living was Marys true passion. Mrs. Galasso was the beloved wife of the late Luigi Galasso. She is the dearest mother of Louise (Paul) Rau, Thomas (Val) Galasso, Louis (Kathy) Galasso, and the loving grandmother of Michelle (John) Antonini, KellyAnne Rau, Thomas Sebastian Galasso, Michael Rau, Danielle Galasso, and Gina Galasso. Great-grandmother of Leonardo Galasso, and Joseph Paul Antonini. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday 12 Noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21600 Greater Mack in St. Clair Shores. Celebrating the Funeral liturgy will be Rev. Monsignor Michael Bugarin. Memorial donations are appreciated to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Ave. / Detroit, MI 48201.
