Michael David Briggs, age 69 of Warren, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren. He was born January 9, 1950 in Detroit, son of the late Henry Thomas and the late Betty Louise (nee: Repp) Briggs.
As a millwright in the automotive industry, it was pretty commonplace to find Michaelwith his sleeves rolled up and hunkered down while either installing, dismantling, repairing, reassembling or simply maintaining the many types of machinery entrusted to him on the job. Mike always exuded the utmost in excellence in keeping everything running smooth, and took much pride in a job well done.
So with work ethics like that at his core, it came as no surprise to anyone that Mike worked as hard at home as he did on the job. He loved building things and was often found tinkering around the house and garage on various projects. Mike possessed the mind of an inventor and was always entertaining different ideas on how he could change the world,…or perhaps, simply, the world within his purview.
Yet of all the passions that embodied Mike, he'll fondly be remembered for his "need for speed" and his penchant for going fast. And of all the various modes on wheels to Git'R'Done, perhaps none was more fitting than a motorcycle. Mike loved his "Big Boy Bikes,"…especially the one in his own corral at home, his beloved Harley-Davidson. The premiere of "American Made,"…there was never mistaking that tell-tale rumble as Mike approached, nor the supreme joy that filled his face from ear-to-ear each time you watched him climb on or off that two-wheeled temptress. Riding his bike provided a freedom and release that only a Harley owner can attest to, and Michael knew that feeling all-too-well.
Yes, Mike had some passions and favorite pastimes he enjoyed, but his greatest loves in life were found in his treasured family. From his children to theirs, Mike's quiver was full with the ones that meant the most to him, the ones who melted his heart each time they shared each other's company. Together they created countless memories to embrace of the moments that truly warmed the soul of this loving Dad & Grandpa. Mike's legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched and influenced with his immeasurable heart of gold. He will be missed immensely and loved without end.
Michael was the beloved husband of the late Barbara. Dearest father of Karen (Chuck) Groom, Chad Briggs, Kristi Briggs, Jayson Briggs, and Daniel (Angie) Jakubowski. Loving grandfather of Tiffany, Jacob, Zachary, Adison, Conagher, Dalton, Jonathon, Braydon, and Emily.
