Millie Gavron, age 98, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Villa at City Center in Warren. She was born October 7, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As we move from our teenage years into adulthood, many people begin to think about their future and envision the possibilities ahead,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and dream of what could be. Millie was one of those people with dreams as big as the moon, and she worked hard to make those dreams a reality. After years of learning, facilitating and honing her skills as a beautician, Millie's entrepreneurial spirit caused her to take that dive into the pool of business ownership when she purchased her own beauty salon. Sharing her talents from 1934 thru 1978, Millie's beauty salon was not only a hub of fashion & style, but was perfectly located in downtown Detroit within the iconic Book Cadillac Building. And not only did she devote a huge part of her life helping others to look beautiful and stylish, Millie was the height of style herself. Never presumptuous, but always confident,...Millie worked hard at looking soft,...and was a unique & intriguing lady to behold. She was always dressed-to-the-nines and ready for any occasion. Yet Millie's beauty ran far deeper than her outward appeal as her beauty came also from her heart and soul. Always kind, always generous, Millie was quick to smile with a warmth in her character that enveloped you like a hug. She possessed a friendliness that transcended the norm,...and as the old adage states; she never met a stranger. When she wasn't busy beautifying or managing her business, Millie loved exercising her talents as an accomplished seamstress. With skills that could have easily been parlayed into a business as well, Millie was renowned for creating much of the clothing she wore that turned many heads. Everything she did was a result of how deeply she poured the best parts of herself into the project at hand, and her clothing certainly bore witness to her craftsmanship. And these mentions of Millie just wouldn't be replete if not to address her amazing love and passion for animals. She truly had a soft spot in her heart for these loving and compassionate creatures of God.A loving sister, aunt, cousin and Godmother, Millie touched a multitude of hearts and lives in her journey through life. She shared her own style of beauty with each person she met. Whether creating her magic on you through beautification, or touching your heart with her unique and abiding sense of care,...Millie was one-of-a-kind and leaves a storehouse of loving and wonderful memories for all to reflect upon who were blessed to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Millie was the beloved aunt of Barbara Wolfe, Gary (Joann) Gavron, Nancy Buckley, Donna (Dennis) Markiewicz, Philip (Diane) Gavron, Jane (Bill) Rudd, and Laura Gavron. She was the loving Godmother of Richard Kulczycki and Nancy Buckley. Millie is also survived by many loving great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces & nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by sister, Julia Wolfe and brother, Stephen Gavron. Visitation for Millie will take place on Friday, April 8th from 3-9pm, with a 5:30pm Rosary Service, at the D.S.
