Moritz (Morrie) Charles Cunha III, "Moe," age 75 of Sterling Heights, died Thursday, December 27, 2018 following a short & courageous battle with cancer at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, Michigan. He was born September 13, 1943 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, son of the late Moritz Charles II, "Chico," and the late Mary Teresa (nee: Panyan) Cunha. To those who truly knew Moe, they'll easily attest to what a hard working man he was and how deeply he loved his career. Trained and skilled as a Tool & Die Maker, Moe's ability to work with numbers and machinery in the exacting processes that faced him each day was a challenge that never grew old. His career was such a defining part of who he was, Moe would often wake up with work on his mind, anticipating the opportunities that awaited him when he arrived. He was always so eager and enthusiastic about tackling each day's agenda, it could possibly be said that, "Moe never had a bad day on the job. And if that wasn't praiseworthy enough, he was also blessed and fortunate to have made many wonderful and lasting friends while in the industry,…friends he was elated to keep and retain both pre & post retirement. When he managed to find time away from work, one of his favorite pastimes was found in the game of golf. Whether with a family member or a friend, nothing said fun quite like sharing a sunny day on the links with Moe! And you had better have brought you're A-Game because Moe was truly "in it to win it!" Oh sure, there was always a lot of fun and entertainment in chasing that little white ball around the course,…but it was also about the competition as well. Moe thrived on the friendly rivalry that surrounded the game, and he was never more competitive than when swingin' the clubs with his buddies, Mike Young and "Big O" (Bill). Jack, Arnie & Sam had nothin' on this trio, for sure!A loving husband, father and grandfather, Moe touched a great deal of hearts and souls in his journey this side of Heaven,…and now goes to enjoy his rewards on the other side. He leaves a legacy of love for all to draw upon who were blessed to know him, and a host of wonderful memories he loved creating with family and friends alike. He will truly be missed, and be eternally loved. Moe was the beloved husband of Susan with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. He was the treasured father of Moritz ("Morrie") Charles IV (Pamela) Cunha and Jeffrey Cunha. Loving & proud grandfather of Morrie A., Mitchell, Samantha, Ella, and Riley. Dearest brother of Carla (Howard) Chenoweth, David Cunha, Mark (Gwen) Cunha, and the late Victor Cunha. Moe also leaves his brother's and sister's-in-law; Stephen (Maria) Tomczyk, Henry Tomczyk, Julianne (Rick) Johnson, Chris Tomczyk, Tim (Maria) Tomczyk, Veronica (Kevin) Moody,...as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.Visitation for Moe will be held Wednesday, January 2nd from 4-9pm at the D.S.
