

Neil Almalbis, age 46, passed away on December 30, 2025. He was born on May 6, 1979, in Roxas City, Philippines to the late Manolito and Nelinda (nee: Japitana) Almalbis. In 1987, Neil, along with his sister, joined their mom in the U.S. where he would grow up in Warren, Michigan and build a life filled with creativity, passion, and joy.
Neil graduated from Cousino High School in 1998, where he proudly participated in the marching band, an experience that fueled his lifelong love of music and performance. He continued his education at Western Michigan University, earning his bachelor's degree while also remaining actively involved in the university's marching band.
Following college, Neil began a successful and fulfilling career with the SSA Group, a company providing food and retail services for zoos and museums across the country. Neil last served as a Creative Director and dedicated more than 20 years to the organization, where his talent, vision, and commitment left a lasting impact on colleagues and projects alike.
Neil had a vibrant personality and a deep appreciation for life's pleasures. He was an avid fan of all Detroit sports teams, a foodie, loved musical theater, and found joy in shopping, traveling, collecting Hard Rock Hotel pins and spending time with family. His enthusiasm, creativity, and warm presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Neil was the beloved son of Nelinda (Domingo Llamas) and the late Manolito Almalbis. Dear brother of Pamela (Shawn) Westergaard. Devoted uncle of Paige and Cole Westergaard. Neil is survived by his loving family and many friends whose lives he touched in meaningful ways. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation for Neil will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 3pm until the time of the Rosary Service at 7:30pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12½ Mile Road).
