Norman V. Wiatr

Norman V. Wiatr, 71 of Sterling Heights, died September 28, 2008 surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with diabetes. Born on August 23, 1937 in Detroit to his late parents Mary and Dominic Wiatr, Norm grew up on the east side of Detroit. He was a graduate of Cass Tech High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Detroit. Norm married his late wife, Jean (nee: Laier) on August 20, 1960. They raised their four daughters Noreen, Nannette, Rochelle and Pamela in Warren, Michigan where he was active in coaching and scouting trips with the girls. On New Years Eve, 1993 Norm married Janet (nee: Hulan, Joseph). Together they spent their years traveling, golfing, singing in the St. Martin de Porres choir, welcoming their 13 grandchildren to the world and watching them grow. Norm retired from General Motors in 1995 after 35 years of dedicated service as a mechanical engineer. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith and courage. Norm is survived by his wife Janet; children Noreen (Paul) Schira, Nannette (Mark) Dadabbo, Rochelle (Luis) Hinojosa, Pamela (Thomas) McNally, Ann Joseph, Joanne (Lance) Murphy, David Joseph and Terri Joseph; grandchildren Madison, Bryanna, Zack, Tatyanna, Matthew, Luke, Aryanna, Felicia, Mikayla, Dominic, Mariah, Lorenso, and Patrick; Brother of Carl (Christine) Wiatr; Dear nephew of Stephanie Ryznar and also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation for Mr. Wiatr will be Tuesday from 2:00-9 pm with an evening Vigil Service 7:00 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Mr. Wiatr will lie in state Wednesday 11 am, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass 11:30 am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Monsignor John Zenz.
