I went to ABC today like I have so many times over the past 20 years or so. Large purchases I always waited to see Paul no matter how long the wait. Today was a small appliance so I did not ask for him ,I didn't want to bother him.but I did wanting just say hi. Then they told me the news and pointed to a great picture of him . It hit me like a rock , I started shaking and trembling . The reason I guess is over the years Paul made me and my family feel like we were part of his family. He would see us in the store and always remembered us .Shaking my hand and kissing my wife on the cheek. When my kids moved out they all went to see Paul and he gave them that same special treatment and part of the family feeling. I guess that is why today when I was told it hit me so hard.this guy made us feel special ,made us feel like part of his family. He talked of his family all the time during our conversations. Paul was a very special person and he will be missed by so many people. My thoughts and prayers to his wife and children.

The Block parties back-in-the-day would not be as memorable had he not been there. He had the ability to have conversations with kids. And the kids would converse back. My fondest memories of Paul and the Wouters family date back to childhood, living on Campbell Streetâ¦.sharing the one-mile, or so trek down Engleman to and from school, for 12 yrs, with Wouters clan and others that lived on Campbell and went to St. Clement School, summers playing in the streets from sun-up, till the street lights went on, and all the many church and school events. Paul always had a twinkle in his eye, and a joke or prank to pull. What fun we all had. As I read through the many notes in this memory book, I can see Paul surely followed in the footsteps of his father: A 1st Class modelâ¦.being a devoted husband and father. So puzzling to figure out Gods plan. There must have been one heck of an Easter Celebration in heaven, this year. His respect for his elders has been passed down to his children and that is an awesome family trait to have. I will surely miss his smile and wave as I drove into the neighborhood. Every year sometime in December I would stop into ABC, Paul would see me and say " Well it must be Christmas", then we would shoot the breeze for a bit and I'd buy something.
I know what a great family man he was as our kids grew up together. I always admired and respected Paul.
One thing though. When they had their pool, he would always be the 1st in the neighborhood to open his up. So, of course my kids would start hounding me to open ours. I would give him a hard time about it and he would say, "turn your heater on, cheapskate." ( maybe the language was a little more colorful than that)
My family and I will truly miss him and our love and prayers go out to the family.

Paul, you were taken way too early from this earth. Your smile, warmth and the love you had for your family will never be forgotten. I knew you since the days from St. Pats. Tuesday mornings at Plum Brook will never be the same without Paul leading the "Wouters Group." He was a great friend and golf partner I miss him greatly already. There was always something going on at the Wouters - parties, hot tub nights, card games, bonfires & nightly neighbor visits etc.. Paul was in the center of it all and loved it. I was invited to most family events at the house and became infused into the Wouters enjoying every minute. His family was number one and everything else just fell into place. I could always walk across the street sit in the garage, watch a ballgame have a beer and listen to Paul talk about Lori and the kids, golf, work, family and solved many worldly problems. Paul was truly unique. He loved life and everyone loved Paul. I will miss Paul and never forget his laugh, smile, thoughtfulness, kindness, and love. Rick knew Paul years ago from playing ball with him and I met him 31 years ago at ABC warehouse buying our first appliances for our first home. Every time my family needed anything we always took a trip to see Paul. He was always busy and in demand but always took the time out to chat about our families, I never met his family but felt like I knew them, he was so proud of all of his kids and loved his wife dearly. He was just a great guy and Rick and I are so glad that he was a small part of our lives. We can't express how badly we feel for all of your family and for all of us too. He will be greatly missed.

I met Paul through my Daughter Roxanne Marx at ABC Warehouse when Paul was the Manager in Troy. He was always the smiling person that spoke to you and never forgot your name and always ask about the family, as he would share about his family. I grew up from a kid to an adult knowing the wonderful Wouters Family. I used to babysit all four of you when you were babies! I remember hanging out in the pool together, BBQ's and block parties together. As I got older Paul even got me a job at ABC and I used to come home from college on the weekends to work. We even carpooled together. You are such a beautiful unforgettable family. My heart is absolutely broken for you. I know in my soul that Paul is up in heaven watching over you and he probably offered Saint Peter a deal on a washer on his way through the pearly gates. From the first time we met Mr. Wouters he was our other Dad. You couldn't help but smile when you were around him. His laugh was infectious and his hugs can't be beat. All of the nights spend sitting in the garage with him talking about anything and everything are memories we will cherish forever. I am still in complete shock about Paul's passing; I'm was deeply saddened to hear about his unfortunate accident and hoped and prayed that he would pull through this. I worked for Paul at the Troy ABC store and he was a great boss;

I have been a customer of Paul's for about 12 years. Always one to say hello to me with a big hug we would spend a good 10-15 minutes catching up on family life. Paul was extremely proud of all of his children and would update me on how they were doing in school and sports. Paul loved his wife immensely and family was so important to him. I loved hearing about family vacations which to Paul meant taking 30 or 40 people on a cruise. Paul lived for his family and the bond of love they shared. Never the "salesman" Paul would always help me to buy just I what needed. Always the gentleman Paul would walk me to my car or ask another coworker to and would never let me carry my purchase out (even if it was a bottle of stove cleaner). Paul always treated people with respect and as though they were his only customer. When I think back to all of the people that I referred to him over the years they all said the same thing...you were right he is a great guy! It got to be where if I knew someone needed a stove or washer I would say I know a guy who will take care of you at ABC. And inevitably the person would say oh I have a guy I go to already at ABC and his name is Paul Wooters. I will truly miss his smiling face and hearing his bowling and golf stories. How lucky we are to have known such a wonderful man. How lucky is Heaven to have gained such a wonderful angel. Paul Wooters - you only had to meet him once to remember him forever! I was continually amazed at how many people would come into the store asking for Paul. What a tribute to a wonderful man taken way too early from us. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Wouters family during this difficult time! R.I.P my friend, I will miss our conversations.

Was very saddened to here this news of Paul's passing. My wife Sharon and I have known Paul since we were first married and our hearts and prayers go out to Paul's family and friends. Thanks to another friend back in 1986 we were told to go see Paul if you need to buy any appliances ect... Since then anything we have ever purchased has been thru Paul. I cannot even begin to tell you how good it felt to walk into his store knowing he was going to take care of us as if we were family. Paul truly was a good friend and we will miss him so very much. Paul was the most passionate man in our neighborhood; he was truly an anchor for the kids & families of Washington Square. With the bus stop at Lori & Paul's corner, Paul talked to ALL the kids and made them feel good, giving them a hug. Megan, Bubba, Matthew & Marc: Your Dad Adored All of You So Much -- he was always telling stories of each of you and was so very proud and always had everyone laughing. Words could never express the sorrow of losing a vibrant young man.A husband , a father to four beautiful children. I just don"t know what to say. I was with all of you from the start of his hospital stay. I really thought he was going to beat it.I saw the heart ache from all of his family members. I 'm happy I had the opportunity to know Paul. He was quite the comedian always laughing and kidding around.My heart goes out to all of you.Lorii and the childrren as well as all of his immediate family. Paul will always be remembered forever in our hearts and all the good times.

Paul's smile could light up a room. And he loved to laugh. Any time he saw my parents around Center Line, he would greet them with a warm handshake for dad and a big hug for mom. He always told them to tell me he said hello. My sympathies go out to his family. May God help you find comfort at this difficult time.

St. Clement during the time Paul went to school was a close knit group of people. My sincerest condolences to the Wouters family and I was truly blessed to have known Paul during high school.

Lori and family I am so sorry for your loss. Paul was a great person and has left me with many great memories. I fondly remember the many years of basketball we played together at St. Clements, and the many rounds of golf we played after high school. I will never forget the determination he had when teaching him to water ski, which he mastered quickly. It is comforting to know you have such a great family for support while going through this tough period. Dear Wouters Family- Our hearts cannot possibly express the deep sadness we feel at Paul's passing. We will always remember his beautiful smile and open friendliness. He and my father, Pete Provenzino, worked together for many years, so I had the pleasure of seeing him at the company picnics, so many years ago. Even when it had been a few years between meetings with Paul, he always remembered us and treated us like close family. Paul will always be with you in your heart, as long as you remember him.
