Richard Barry Forgeon, age 66 of Warren, died Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Warren Campus of Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital. He was born July 1, 1953 in Detroit, son of the late Harry Jr., and the late Peggy (nee: Watson) Forgeon.
Working as a tool maker in the manufacturing industry, Richard’s skillfulness was called upon daily in the exercising of his job and the precision of the materials he produced. This means that he was always having to work extra hard to get it right and on task, which was never a problem for Richard. But it also means that he was always working diligently towards that balance in life between work and play,…and “playtime” was enjoyed in a variety of ways for Richard.
Time away from work was often filled by his love of fishing,…one of the soft sports that called upon the outdoorsman in Richard, yet without the major exertion of a more contact-intensive sport. Since he wasn’t fishing for great white sharks, the only exertion was basically bending over to haul in that bass or walleye that took the bait. This old world sport is a pleasure of many, and was certainly so with Richard. Whether down at a favorite fishing hole, or casting off a dock, he simply enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity that seemed to fill those spaces between each bob of the fishing line and hopeful catch of the day.
Richard was also known for his love of motorcycles, and for his impressive collection of guns and baseball cards. With the first two being a reflection of the adult-oriented passions he held, the latter called upon the kid that remained within and the memories of days gone by. And not merely a collector, Richard loved giving his many guns a workout by joining with his nephews at Pete’s Gun Range in Roseville. Those manly/male-bonding moments were treasured times for Richard having never had children of his own. His nephews were pretty special to him, and sharing a little “firearms fun” together was always a highlight. Richard also enjoyed scratching that gambling itch from time to time which, for him, often came in the form of “Texas Hold ‘em.”
Yet as is the case for most of us, the best times of all were those spent in the company of family and friends, creating those special moments to last a lifetime. A loving son, brother and uncle, Richard leaves a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to embrace who were blessed to know this dear man. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Richard was the beloved son of the late Harry and Peggy Forgeon. Loving brother of Glenda (Robert) Ball, Suzanne (Mark) Landsiedel, Terry Lombardo, and Larry Forgeon. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements Have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.
