

Robert John Zasadny, age 73 of Warren, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. John Macomb Hospital Center in Warren. Robert was born March 02, 1935 in Wyandotte, Michigan the son of the late John Zasadny and the late Angeline (nee: Urbanek) Zasadny. Robert was raised in Wyandotte and graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic High School. After high school he served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. During his time in the military he attained the rank of Specialist Grade 3. Robert enlisted on October 5, 1954 in Wayne, MI and was discharged on September 26, 1956 at Ft. Sheridan, IL. When Robert returned to Michigan he worked for over ten years at the Matt Buhl Chrysler dealership as a parts manager. He eventually left the automotive business to work for the Department of Defense at the Warren TACOM facility. Robert worked for over 30 years before his retirement as the branch chief of materials and logistics. When Mr. Zasadny was not working he was a professional musician, playing drums with several local bands including the Kings Four who often played at Toms Oyster Bar in Detroit. Also Bob was an accomplished cartoonist who was published often in magazines such as Ebony, Good Housekeeping, Barrons, National Enquirer, and the Harvard Business Review. Also Bob was very proud of his military service and his membership in the Mount Clemens VFW Post 15023. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Geraldine, and his dear children, Kenneth Zasadny, Richard (Catherine) Zasadny, and Tina (Ross) Szalay. He is the loving grandfather of William, Matthew, and Deena. Also surviving are his siblings, Ronald Zasadny, and Carol (Keith) Pratt. Visitation for Mr. Zasadny will be Wednesday from 2:30-9:00 pm with a Scripture Service 7:00 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Mr. Zasadny will lie in state Thursday 9:00 am at St. Blas Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am.
