Rollie Johnson, age 83 of Warren, died Sundy, May 30, 2021 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital’s Warren Campus. He was born May 23, 1938 in Detroit, son of the late Rollie Sr. and the late Verna (nee: Radomski) Johnson.
Rollie leaves his beautiful bride, Marion, of 56 years, to cherish his memory. Married on August 8, 1964 at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Detroit, that is when their love story blossomed to that as husband & wife; two lovebirds who would grow deeper in love with each passing day. With Marion’s help, she and Rollie were blessed to welcome three beautiful children into their world who became the light of their lives and the joy of their hearts.
With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Rollie for his service to our country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. For answering his call with pride and patriotism, and for the sacrifices made in extending his finest, we honor Rollie for his willingness to stand in harm’s way for the sake of freedom & liberty through the valiance and bravery that Rollie naturally imbued.
For his career path, Rollie was employed with the Budd Company where he worked for over 30 years as a Die Maker. With extreme expertise and precision, Rollie and his co-working team were responsible for helping to provide some of the finest quality products for the automotive industry. Rollie was proud of his work and honored to be a cog in the big wheel of automation, right here in the Motor Capital of the world.
Where many may have stories of the various activities that fill their down time and subsequent retirement years, Rollie’s contentment and pleasures were memorialized through the times he enjoyed simply hangin’ out with the family at their cottage in Grind Stone City, Michigan. Nestled at the tip of the Mitten’s Thumb, along with its neighboring hamlets of Port Austin and Pointe aux Barques, Rollie was never at a loss for its scenic splendor, nor the tranquility that accompanied his home-away-from-home. Exchanging the concrete jungle for a taste of Pure Michigan was always the perfect escape for Rollie, and a source of the many wonderful memories created and shared with his loved ones over the years. Spending time with his children and grandchildren afforded Rollie some of life’s most precious moments, and each one was more valued than the last.
A loving husband, father, & grandfather, Rollie leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love to be embraced by all who were blessed to know him. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls in his journey this side of Heaven, may he now enjoy the blessings on the other side as he rests safely in the arms of God.
