Rose Mary Charron, age 87, of Fraser, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. She was born November 11, 1933 in Detroit, daughter of the late Frank Carl and the late Clara Catherine (nee Wrubel) Koroleski.
After graduating from high school, she worked at Bell Telephone Company in Detroit for several years, employing her mathematical skills. Rose Mary was a mere 22 years old when her life would change in a monumental and beautiful way, the day she married the love of her life, Bert. The ceremony took place at Detroit’s historic Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on October 29, 1955, and Rose Mary couldn’t have looked more beautiful as she made her way down the aisle and into the arms of her husband-to-be. A couple of “I Do’s” later and the two lovebirds stood before their family and friends as the priest pronounced them, husband & wife. Together they raised a family, built upon the comforts of home and hearth, and grew deeper in love with each passing day. Their love story would span over 26 wonderful years until Bert’s passing in 1981.
During the first 25 years of marriage, Rose Mary successfully raised six children, and was actively involved in their after school activities, such as dance classes, music lessons, and Cub Scouts. As her grown children started their own independent lives, Rose Mary took a job as a clerk in the field of medical billing. She took great pride in her job and found her position to be quite rewarding. Yet nothing could replace the importance of nurturing her family and keeping “the ship” pointed in the right direction. It wasn’t always easy, but you would have never known as she truly made it look as such.
For as much as she loved staying busy with work, Rose Mary also knew how to infuse a bit of fun and entertainment into life, for example, her support of “Sports in the D.” Whether it was the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions or Pistons, she loved tuning into her sports programs on TV, and did so often. She was so passionate about the games that it wasn’t uncommon to hear her screaming at the television as the games ensued. She might have sounded ferocious, but she was merely “engaged on steroids!”
Another source of pleasure for Rose Mary was her talent for making beautiful dried flower arrangements, which became a small business for several years. There was something extremely satisfying about taking some of nature’s beauty and making it even more so with her eye for design. She’ll also be remembered for her love of reading. Whenever the moment presented itself, Rose Mary loved curling up with a good book and getting lost in its pages, especially mysteries. And then there were her crossword puzzles. It’s been said that a good way to keep your mind sharp is by solving crossword puzzles, and Rose Mary was pretty darn sharp! And like many of us out there, what would television watching be without getting engrossed in the Game Show channel? Yep, Rose Mary loved her game shows, especially the ones that ushered her back to the days of yore with hosts such as Richard Dawson, Gene Rayburn and Bob Barker. Lastly, she was quite taken with her collection of antiques. Rose Mary so enjoyed searching for pieces to complete her sets of “depression glassware”, and would often recount how she got it for “such a deal”.
Yet of all the joys that meant the most to Rose Mary, nothing could come close to the matchless love she held for her dear family. Spending time in their company were some of the most precious memories she possessed, memories that warmed her heart and reminded her of the many blessings in her life. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love as an endearing wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, each of which will keep her close with each reflection shared. She will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Rose Mary was the beloved wife of Hubert John Charron, who preceded her in death in 1981. Dearest mother of Sandy Charron, Mike Charron, Judy (Roger) Grubb, Gale (the late Paul) Sanders, Deanne Charron, and the late Steve Charron. Loving grandmother of Corey Sanders, Julie (Heath) Sullivan, Joshua Grubb, Jeremy Grubb and Savanah Charron.
Visitation for Rose Mary will be held Sunday, July 18th from 3-9 pm, with a 6pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren, Michigan.
Closing prayers will be shared on Monday, 10 am at the funeral home, followed by her interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
