Ruth was born on November 30, 1927, in Parisville, MI, to the late Adam and Agnes (nee. Pawlowski) Peruski. As a young girl, she worked alongside her 10 siblings on the family’s dairy and crop farm. Later, Ruth moved to the city, where she attended secretarial school and began her career with SquareDeal in Detroit.
On September 14, 1946, Ruth married the love of her life, Raymond “Ray” Grifka, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville, Michigan. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage until Ray’s passing in 2010. Together, they made their home in Detroit before settling in Warren, where they lived for 58 years and were devoted members of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.
Ruth retired from the Warren Consolidated School System after 20 years of dedicated service. She found joy in baking, canning, visiting casinos, and traveling with Ray. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Ruth is lovingly remembered by her children Diane (Hal) Almand, Dennis (Mary Jo) Grifka, Raymond (Michelle) Grifka, and the late Dean Grifka. Dear mother-in-law of Sharon Grifka. She was a cherished grandmother to Lisa and Derek Upton, Graham Geweniger (fiancée Jennifer), Steven and Tobey Grifka, Todd and Rose Grifka, Joel and Amy Grifka, Alex and Kristin Grifka, Gabe and Sarah Grifka, Marisa and Anthony Brunetti, and Ryan and Alexa Grifka. She was a proud great-grandmother to Candace (fiancé Cory), Eliza, Zack, Millie Ruth, Myles, Eloise, Piper, Jack, Callie, Brooks, Aria, Mia, and the late Samantha Ritter. Loving great-great-grandmother to Rosalee.
