Shirley M. Lloyd, age 85 of Clinton Township, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Lake Point Senior Care & Rehab Center in Clinton Township. She was born on November 3, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Roscoe and the late Edna (nee: Hohfeldt) Harrison. Along with the love she poured into being a loving wife, Mom, and homemaker, Shirley worked outside of the home, as well, in the banking industry where she attained the position of Bank Officer/Manager. When she wasn't working, some of her favorite interests and pastimes included golfing, sewing, knitting, cooking, and cake decorating. As for one of her favorite places to visit, that was definitely J.L. Hudson's. Being the well-dressed and stylish lady she was, her trips there were often and the store provided the perfect venue to keep her wardrobe both chic and updated. Her loyalty and visits to Hudson's were so renowned, she was known by name to all of the clerks. Along with the fabulous clothing, Shirley was also known for her exemplary taste in shoes,...especially her stylish high-heels, which she wore with class into her 80's. And if that wasn't enough, she was truly a "Lady of Hats" as well. Whatever the occasion, Shirley had a hat to enhance her look and enjoyed the added, old-fashioned touch it gave to her already stunning appearance. Not only was Shirley a woman of fashion, but she was also an incredible woman of faith. A Sunday School teacher and member of her church for over 60 years, Shirley possessed tremendous love for the Lord and compassion towards others as evidenced through her giving spirit and willingness to reach out. Quite often, it was an honor and pleasure for her to play host to the various evangelist's and missionaries who visited the church. Whether for the church or the protection of her loved one's, Shirley's prayerfulness was a constant support and exemplification of the devout relationship she shared with her Heavenly Father. Most importantly, it's the reflection from her children of what a wonderful, "praying mother" they had in their corner. She truly lived the scripture that states, "consider others more important than yourself" by putting others needs ahead of her own. For this lady who never raised her voice in anger, and possessed a smile that would light the room, she always knew the right thing to say or do,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and often her comforting words would be, "this, too, shall pass." Shirley was the ultimate example of a perfect lady. Her children shared how much their Mom loved Christmas. Is it any wonder...when considering that she brought Christmas to the lives of others each and every day of the year. As much as Shirley cared for all of God's children, there were none more special, nor precious, than her own,...especially her dear grandchildren. She treated her daughter-in-law and son-in-law as if they were her own, and their remembrance of that unselfish & unconditional love will forever be treasured. Shirley will be remembered by so many, for so many reasons,...and her legacy of love is the gift she leaves behind to keep her close at heart, always. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman. Dear mother of Susan (Ernest) Byrd and Brad (Coleen) Lloyd. Loving grandmother of David (Dr. Jennifer), Matthew, Rachel (Jeff) Mulawa, Megan, and great-grandmother of Elizabeth and Michael. Sister of Frances Potts, and sister-in-law of Frances Fisher. Visitation for Shirley will be held on Monday, April 4th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of her funeral service at 10:00am at the Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene, 14300 Thirteen Mile Road in Warren. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tim Gocha. Interment will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Hope Center, 33222 Groesbeck Highway, Fraser, MI 48026. Please share memories of Shirley at her guest book.
